How would you improve the Wonderla Park experience?

Firstly, the ask is much broader so let’s narrow down the scope to ensure we don’t go in multiple directions.

There are a couple of Wonderla amusement parks across India. So Let’s focus on the Wonderla-Hyderabad experience.

The word ‘Improve’ can mean a lot, e.g.: Increase in the number of footfalls, Increase in engagement, etc.

Assuming ‘improve’ means increasing the [level of engagement] of the visitors inside the park.

There are a lot of visitor segments that would be visiting the park every day and we might not be able to focus on every segment. So let’s pick one impactful segment. I will focus on a set of [Teenage audience] who usually are the most enthusiastic and relatively impatient and want to make full use of the time spent inside the park. They are usually the ones having high footfalls and more often they try to take the ride multiple times and hence more impactful pool to focus on.

Now, Let’s list down the pain points that impede the experience for this visitor segment – Teenage visitors

1. Don’t want to wait a lot for each ride {especially for the popular rides}

2. What is the optimum path to cover all the rides

3. Navigation map

4. Don’t know where the photo ops spots are available

5. Food stalls

Among these, let’s identify high-frequency and high-magnitude pain points.

1. Don’t know how much time it would take for each ride {especially the popular rides}

let’s summarize till here

We are trying to [increase the engagement level] OF [Teenage visitors] at the ‘Wonderla’ by solving the [problem of Ride Waiting time]

Let’s list down some potential solutions for our problem statement

1. Display the dynamic wait time on the digital boards set at the ride entrance

2. Mobile-App to show the wait time and suggest alternative rides to optimize time

3. Set up a separate channel for Solo riders.

4. Indicate a static board with happy hours and rush hours based on past data

Given the complexity and Value score for each of the solutions, #1 & #3 can be prioritized.

Now that we have found the solution to the problem, let’s focus on how to measure the value. What are some of the metrics that can be used to measure the value?

1. Avg Wait time per person per ride

2. Avg time per person to complete all the rides

3. # footfalls per ride
